Dive Control

Master your buoyancy. Follow the line.

A cave diving game for your phone. The current carries you through a cave that never ends. Your air, your buoyancy and the guideline decide how far you get.

The dive

The current carries you. Buoyancy does the rest.

You never steer. You rise and sink with the controls a real diver has, and the cave asks for all of them at once.

The game mid-dive: air, score and multiplier, depth and map along the top; BCD, ears and lungs at the bottom

BCD

Press + to add air to the wing and rise, − to vent it. Air swells as you climb, so vent on the way up.

Lungs

Drag up to breathe in and lift a little, down to breathe out and sink. The fine trim between puffs.

Ears

Going down squeezes your ears. Equalize when the ring fills, before it starts to hurt.

The score

Stay close to the line. Climb to ×5.

Every metre scores. Stay near the guideline to build up your multiplier; drift off and it slips. Touch rock and you are back to ×1.

  1. ×1Start
  2. ×215 m
  3. ×330 m
  4. ×445 m
  5. ×560 m
A 50 m streak at ×4: the guideline glows gold

The cave

A new cave every dive. Today's is the same for everyone.

Each cave grows chamber by chamber and never ends. Six stages lead down from the Entrance to the Abyss, each tighter and deeper than the last. Once a day everyone dives the same cave: see who got furthest today.

  1. 1The Entrance5–7.5 m
  2. 2The Galleries6–13 m
  3. 3The Crawlways10–20 m
  4. 4The Narrows13–25 m
  5. 5The Deep16–30 m
  6. 6The Abyss19–35 m
Silt-outTouch the rock and the silt comes up. You see less, breathe harder and drop back to ×1.
Stage bottlesBottles clipped to the line top up your tank. Drop to the line to take one.
Side leadsA gold jump line leads into a tighter side passage, with a bottle on its line.
HaloclineBelow it, salt water lifts you. Let a little air out of the wing as you cross it.
Torch failureDeeper in, the primary can die. The backup is dimmer and stays on for the rest of the dive.
Your airThe deeper you are, the faster the tank drains, and the wing's air comes from it too.

A dive ends when the air runs out, you rise too fast, stay past the no-deco limit or hurt your ears. However it ends, every metre you swam still scores.

Learn

Learn it in open water first.

Four short lessons, each with its own control playing the skill out, and drills in open water to practise them before the cave asks for everything at once.

LungsBreathe to fine-tune your depth.A full breath lifts you, a long exhale lets you sink.
BuoyancyYour wing does the big moves.Air in the wing swells as you rise, so a wing left alone runs away with you.
Ear pressureEqualize early, equalize often.Leave it too long on the way down and the dive ends in barotrauma.
Ascent controlRise slowly, every time.Keep the rate out of the red, or the nitrogen in your body forms bubbles.

Gear up. The line is waiting.
